Often Irreverent, Mostly Rational Blog for Fans of the Toronto Blue Jays. One Day, We'll Be Perfect.
Given the off-day, here's something to discuss:I subjected myself to reading Marty York's Metro news blurbs, and one gem I uncovered was the following:Troy Glaus is apparently a lock to be the National League Gold Glove Third Baseman.I think I may have found my own personal Griffin.
^^ and for the record, I know Glaus is putting up some decent-looking defensive stats....but "a lock"? Come the fuck on.
Another fun thing to do on the off-day? Check out Fire Joe morgan for an article that mentions former Jays Luis Sojo and Pat Tabler.
Nah man...shit no. I reckon you get your ass kicked, you say something like that.
This summer I've blocked the depression of week nights off by watching baseball movies. Unfortunately I have now watched all the good ones so tonight I'm stuck watching Tom Selleck in "Mr. Baseball" which might be even more depressing.
Dave...you don't like Mr. Baseball?! It is one of those light-hearted easy to watch movies that entertains for an hour and a half. How can you not like the movie?BTW, the movie is exactly how Japanese people behave. The underlining life of baseball and life in general in Japan is depicted almost to the T.
Oh! New Category! All-Time Worst baseball movies! We vote for the one where the 13 year-old Cubs fan wrecks his arm and then becomes a superstar. (Not the Mark Prior Story...that other one.)
Air Bud: Seventh Inning FetchI've never seen it but this description sounds wonderful: "Josh has gone to college and his little sister Andrea enlists their dog Buddy in her baseball team just as Buddy's puppies are kidnapped by Rocky the Raccoon."Damn you, Rocky!FBMBP, I haven't seen it since I was a kid so I have no idea if I like it or not. And I didn't end up watching it, I tried "Brewster's Millions" (John Candy and Richard Pryor!!) instead.
ack, i'm fairly certain he just looked up the highest fielding percentage, saw glaus there with decent offensive numbers, and ran with it.my nl 3b gold glove goes to david wright
I'm down in NYC so I get to hear all the Yankee pundits say how hard the Blue Jays are gonna be. Many fans are resigned to the fact that to make the playoffs is a miracle for the Bombers. Can you imagine if the Jays sweep this series? It would shut up these Yankee fans once and for all. That would be sweet after what just happened in Boston.......
Glaus had pretty good defensive number in Toronto too.
Glaus had good numbers because fielded everything that was hit to him. He didn't have a lot of "go get it" in him, in spite of his occasional forays at short.Marty York is a goof.
