It sucks to lose meaningful games in August

First off, we'd just like to say that the Red Sox are a bunch of bastard people. Now if you'll excuse us, we're going to go bite our pillow.

Meaningful games mean so much
Maybe it was the excess caffeine, the hectic travel schedule that we had yesterday, or the wicked heat, but we'd like to think that the fact that yesterday's game meant something was the reason that we were sweating our way through the extra innings in yesterday's 6-5 loss to the Boston BastardPeople Sox.

Unfortunately, the loss reduces the Jays' chances of making the playoffs to an absurdly slim margin that even an inveterate apologist such as ourselves has a hard time believing in.

What's worse is that this happened in the last week of August. If the Jays had won and kept teasing our manly bits for another eight days, we'd be able to say without reservation that the Jays played "meaningful games in September". We'd just like to be able to counter the assertion that the Jays never play games of any sort of consequence with an example of one September series that meant something. We want to believe, goddamnit.

And frankly, we don't like to cheer for our team to "play the role of the spoiler" in the final weeks, because any troupe of ne'erdowells can play that role. Although if we have to be spoilers, we'd like to take the Redneck Riviera Rays down a peg starting tomorrow.

I'm glad I don't have any weekday posts, I'd be a fucking savage after yesterday.

i know playing spoiler sucks, but there's a good chance the wild card can come out of the central. let's do our part to make sure both the douchebag empires don't make the playoffs. that would be sweet, sweet justice.

15 years and counting without playoffs. that is intensely fucked up. but we've still got a pulse. the rockies and phillies proved that anything can happen come september.

if the rays manage to beat Doc for a 4th time this season tomorrow...well, i'm just going to have a big cry...

Why hasn't that Stairs safe at home call been contested by JP and Cito? That was robbery! This proves the Umps are fixing shit like soccer and wrestling. I have never in my life have seen calls as bad as these. If Stairs was called safe, then the Jays win it. Yeah, the Yanks move up ,but so does Toronto. Instead, this BS happens. Why didn't the fucking club come out full throttle top protest this garbage?

Because you can't appeal a judgement call. Let it go. The ump didn't serve up a meatball to Coco Crisp or Jed Lowrie.

if the ump gets the call right, League doesn't serve up the meatball to Lowrie because the game's over and the Jays win 6-5...

that was an awful, awful call...

Eyebleaf, that's what I mean. Thank god for instant replay, because baseball is becoming like the WWF and the World Cup.This year has had the world umpiring I have ever seen. I mean how could the infield umps not see that play. Soon enough, they will utilize technology to stop this shit. I never believed in collusion, but MLB wants the Red Sox in the playoffs and not the Jays. I'm one of those guys that believed that Kennedy was killed by Oswald alone and that we(the USA) landed on the moon etc so on. I'm no conspiracy nut at all BUT that call dictated the game. If the Bloody Sox make it to the playoffs by one fucking game, it was this one that will be remembered. Was else do these potbellied old umps do? Do they even pay attention to the game? It was a game that was stolen from the Jays. I hope the Jays crush the Bloody Sox next time out so this shit doesn't happen again.

Lloyd, the umpire screwed up a call that would have given Toronto a 6-4 lead. Then Crisps's and Lowrie's homeruns are both mute. Whatta joke, I never thought that I would say that baseball is tainted BUT that fat bastard behind the plate should get his eyes checked.

So you believe the U.S. landed on the moon, eh? NOW who's being naive?

HAHAHAHAH! True dat! Anyway you get my drift. These fucking fat umps might be betting on the games. Or even worse are rooting for the Red Sox. Yeah, I respect gamblers more than Red Sox fans.......

Our thanks to the anonymous commenters. They always raise the level of discourse around here.

It makes us realize that coming up with a clever nickname is almost a "mute" point.
