Friday Rock Out - Spoon "The Underdog"
Sorry to disappoint those of you looking for CanCon on this week's edition of the Rock Out, but we've had this song on the brain all day. (Along with another underdog song, which makes for a whole underdog festival in our noggin.)
It could be that this underdog leitmotif stems from our recent fixation on supposedly weaker teams and their ability to come out of nowhere to school you. (Worth keeping in mind versus the Orioles this weekend.)
Or maybe it's the fact that our favorite dark horse pitcher in the Jays system, Robert Ray, has received the call and will start tomorrow's game against the O's. (Along with some guy named Cecil. Whoever he is.)
Or it could just be that essential line in the song that gets us every time: "You got no fear of the underdog, that’s why you will not survive."
Whatever the case, we could do much worse in terms of the songs stuck in our head. Earlier in the week, we spent two days with the Walkoff Walk Furious Five Podcast theme firmly planted there. (Our apologies to the WoWers, but the theme evokes memories of the Zit Remedy. Take that as you will.)
The Ack is back this weekend (allegedly) as we head off for a weekend in even more profound isolation that usual. Enjoy your weekend, and keep your heads in the game.

DAMMIT!!! I saw the headline, and thought "hey there's another Canandian band that's getting some play." And then the 1st sentence in knocks me back to Alanis-ville.
There's a subtle difference between Spoon and the Spoons.
I, for one, have been suffering serious Ack withdrawal.
Who doesn't miss the Ack?
Two straight weeks of reading our own posts has driven us a little batty too.
That little ditty by the Zit Remedy was pretty catchy, wasn't it? Too bad they never put out a second single.
THe Zit remedy,eh? Everybody's Got Something from Old Skool Degrassi? Fun stuff. Doc gave up a 2 run homer...rats! I hope they win this one, I can't stand any other AL East teams schooling the Jyas.
It was looking a bit dicey tonight with Halladay, but he pulled out another win. I feel for the guy being the "stopper" all the time.
