Congratulations Stairsy!

Sure, Matt Stairs' role in this World Series was essentially to make sure that Geoff Jenkins' ass pocket was tucked in at all times. Nevertheless, it warms the soul to see the pride of Tay Creek N.B. letting his freak flag fly, and getting his ring.

He's Matt Stairs: World Champion. Fuck yeah.

Also soul-warming - Shitske edition
Watching Eric Hinske - tubby disappointment that he is - wave weakly at a Brad Lidge off speed pitch to end the game, series and season. We're sure that he'll get over it after a getting his tip frosted and eating a 10 pound wheel of Wisconsin cheddar in one sitting.

What a nasty swing by Shitske. He went down like the bitch he is.

I love that pic of Stairsy. What a smile.

And how about Lidge? That was a great reaction when it was over. He just sunk to his knees. Much better and more genuine than Papelbon's. But I'm just bias, because I hate Papelbon, that mother fucking jackass.

Jacobs to Kansas City

The Ack said...

so much for Jacobs. I'm just wondering why Dayton Moore hates Billy Butler so much, and how he would look in a Jays uni. Hmm?

Eyebleaf, I knew that already but what a wasteful trade......Gillick might come home to TC now. Can you imagine Gillick doing what he did in Philly in Toronto? JP is the AL version of Ed Wade. The Phils could never make it to the playoffs with Wade then Gillick came.....get rid of JP and bring back HOMEBOY PAT!

suck it. said...

Ahhhh... everyone jumps on the i hate hinske bandwagon. are u fuckers honestly that pathetic. The man hit 20, yes 20 fucking hr's this year and a bomb in the world series. Did I see Vernon or rios or rolen do any of that or even sitting on the bench in the PLAYOFFS!!! Hinske was simply a product of JP's shittiness. Remember that was his guy.

Yes 20 home runs, obviously an big part in the season and world series run of the Rays... Except... oh wait, he sat on the bench for most of the playoffs didn't he.... that's right. If he was so fucking great Maddon would have played him.

I have an Eric Hinske ROY bobble head doll. Let's start the bidding at one MILLION dollars!

Interesting, I just read through a KLaw chat and the topic of Billy Butler came up....and he thinks the Jays would be a great fit, and 2 mid-level prospects would probably get it done. Hmmm.

eyebleaf said...

The White Sox have declined Griffey Jr.'s option.

So, how about him in a Jays uni?

Tao of Stieb said...

@ eyebleaf

Griffey? Let's hope the Jays have learned their lesson about aging sluggers padding their HoF resum├ęs.

@ Ack et al

If Billy Butler is crapped out with the Royals, then you really have to ask yourself if he's the answer for the Jays.

You know who Billy Butler is? He's a 22 year old Jack Cust. So we've got years before he actually gets his shit together and finds a regular spot in someone's lineup.

The Ack said...

throw down time with Tao....

nah, Billy Butler is a guy who was highly touted as a big bat no glove DH....who hasn't yet produced at the major league level for a perennial loser. I'm attributing that partially to subconscious shittiness seeping into the lifestream of these kids....look at Alex Gordon - seen as the ultimate can't miss prospect, he hasn't done fuck all thus far. Youth aside, he's still performed below expectations.

Aaaanyway...I figure if the Jays can get a cheap, controllable DH, with a pretty good shot at breaking out, in exchange for 2 mid level prospects from a team suddenly down on him....then why not? We won't need Justin Jackson after we deal for JJ Hardy this winter....

In my mind, Butler breaking out is at least as likely as Milton Bradley or Jason Giambi lasting a full season and producing at last year's levels. And I'm not buying the Butler = Cust comp.....Cust is ultimate all or nothing bomber, Butler is (supposed to be) a good all around hitter.

.
I'm with you on Griffey though. Baaaarrrrf. Strangely, I'm not as down on Renteria, who finds himself in the same boat as Jr.

eyebleaf said...

Holy fuck, it's like I completely forgot about Frank Thomas. What a brutal suggestion (Griffey). Thanks for the bitch slap, gentlemen.

eyebleaf, that was a brain fart , no? BTW, forget about Butler et al. Go for Manny. He is an asshole but he can hit, the Jays need to find that elusive bat and Butler ain't the answer.

For all those pricks ripping Hinske, what the fuck has Vernon or Rios done lately? Gimme a fucking break.

Darren, I will start that bidding at 1 dollar US! It's cool that you have a sense of humor about this. And unlike Doc, Wells, Rios, Overbay , Hill etc al, Hinske has a ring and has played two World Series in a row. If Doc stays in Toronto he might never even make the playoffs(he's leaving next year after wanting out).Who has had the last laugh?

Bruno Von Rottweiller

PS Fuck you to all the Hinske haters,BEFORE you come up with some witless retort .

Because Hinske was a crucial part of Boston's World Series run.

The funny thing about my Hinske bobble head is my wife got it for me and before she brought it home, she said, "I have this 'Roy' Blue Jay bobble head from work. Do you want it?" Naturally, I assumed it was a Roy Halladay Cy Young award bobble head and nearly shit myself. (Because I have very low expectations for my life.) It turned out to be the Hinske bobble head. Ah well, better than nothing.

The Ack said...

DOn't shortchange yourself, Priesty. A Roy Halladay bobblehead would be epic. I'd pay $1,000 for one if they incorporated the DJF-inspired cyborg design.

That's 20 more than you, fuckhead!

Go for Manny??? Really...the money he seeking with his agent Boras might make Toronto go bankrupt.

Ok, if the Jays do land him he could easily sell seats just because Manny is Manny. But if we could find a player of his calibre that we can add into our lineup, it would be nuts. A Rios/Manny/Wells trio would be deadly.

If we could find a way to solidify our starting rotation as well as add a hitter, things would be rosey. Having Halladay, AJ, McGowan, maybe Litsch, and then have BJ close out.

Having those 3 hitters and that starting rotation plus that closer...dam...that's all I have to say!

Brendan said...

Didn't JP at some point say he never wanted to deal with Boras? Am I imagining this?
And Macbookpro...your scenario would be pretty cool...as it would be pretty cool for me to drive a corvette and be sleeping with Megan Fox(or at least turning down her advances, since I'm married).

I cannot believe all of the fucking Hinske defenders. Unbefuckinglievable. Seriously? I mean come on.. Seriously?

This is a guy that was booed while here, cast off from the Jays, picked up by Sox to help warm their fucking bench and spitshine Varitek's cup during a world series run, cast off again. And picked up by the Rays. In which I will admit he had a decent season hitting 20 dingers. He found a good thing in Tampa but fuck if it did him any good, he is still regarded as a fucking backup as proven by his lack of playing down the stretch and into the fucking playoffs.

Fuck Hinske and his tubby ass. He wouldn't be playing on this version of the Jays much the same as he doesn't deserve to play on the Rays or Sox or the previous version of the Jays when he was cut.

Anonymous said...

You fucking idiots, the playoffs are all about match-ups. Hinske sat on the bench because tampa simply went for someone with speed (PEREZ). Hinske had to fill in big time during the season for guys like crawford, longoria, and cliff floyd. Thats's a back up with 20 hrs and one world series home run. A didn't a certain right fielder in toronto play a whole season and not hit 20 jacks and was sitting in puerto rico in october.
everyone blames hinske for his horseshit play, but place the blame on JP for setting expectations waaay to fucking high for hinske when he gave him that contract.

MCGOWAN WILL NOT BE THAT GOOD IN 2009 WAKE THE FUCK UP PEOPLE, HE WASN'T EVEN THAT GOOD BEFORE HE GOT HURT. HE HAS NEVER PITCHED AN ENTIRE SEASON. SO COUNTING ON MCGOWAN IS LIKE COUNTING ON GEORGE BUSH WINNING THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE.

Fuck Hinske

I understand the trepidation about Griffey because of Thomas, but the risk isn't nearly as big. There's just no way Griffey is going to command a 2/20 sort of deal, he's old, broken down, and isn't coming off a great season where he almost won the MVP. Griffey has still been very capable against RHP these past few years. I'd love to see him as the LH side of a DH platoon, which would allow Snider some time to develop in AAA and give Lind a chance to prove he's actual an every day MLBer and not destined for a Cattalanatto-ish career. The right one year offer for Junior would be a great idea, imo (and a far better one than having to spend a lot of $ bringing in Giambi or Ibanez).

Just because Hinske was the last out, you're calling him a shitbag? Dude was a bench player, who when called upon in the world series had two at bats, and in those two at bats, he struck out, and also hit a home run. Holy fucking high expectations people.

This is NY city hate-on A-Rod type bullshit. I thought Toronto baseball fans were better than this type of garbage.

Fuck Off Park... errr... Hinske

not to mention one of his check swings was called a strike when it wasn't. They were just scared of Philly phans.

bring on those bobble-head bids!
