There's just no way Griffey is going to command a 2/20 sort of deal, he's old, broken down, and isn't coming off a great season where he almost won the MVP. Griffey has still been very capable against RHP these past few years. I'd love to see him as the LH side of a DH platoon, which would allow Snider some time to develop in AAA and give Lind a chance to prove he's actual an every day MLBer and not destined for a Cattalanatto-ish career. The right one year offer for Junior would be a great idea, imo (and a far better one than having to spend a lot of $ bringing in Giambi or Ibanez).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2484762138483195409.post-71186720938087339542008-10-31T15:31:00.000-04:002008-10-31T15:31:00.000-04:00Fuck HinskeFuck HinskeAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2484762138483195409.post-26447933192334951852008-10-31T11:35:00.000-04:002008-10-31T11:35:00.000-04:00If we could find a way to solidify our starting ro...If we could find a way to solidify our starting rotation as well as add a hitter, things would be rosey. I'm attributing that partially to subconscious shittiness seeping into the lifestream of these kids....look at Alex Gordon - seen as the ultimate can't miss prospect, he hasn't done fuck all thus far. Youth aside, he's still performed below expectations.

Aaaanyway...I figure if the Jays can get a cheap, controllable DH, with a pretty good shot at breaking out, in exchange for 2 mid level prospects from a team suddenly down on him....then why not? We won't need Justin Jackson after we deal for JJ Hardy this winter....

In my mind, Butler breaking out is at least as likely as Milton Bradley or Jason Giambi lasting a full season and producing at last year's levels. And I'm not buying the Butler = Cust comp.....Cust is ultimate all or nothing bomber, Butler is (supposed to be) a good all around hitter.
.
.
.
I'm with you on Griffey though.
