We're having trouble deciding, so help us out here.
Is this the most depressing, spirit-crushing offseason in recent memory? Or is it the most painfully slow, demoralizing and frustrating offseason in memory?
We're the King of Accentuating the Positive, but seriously, the past eight weeks have pushed us to a point where we spend half of our time sobbing into our pillow and the other half of our time pounding our head into the wall.
What can we talk about? The instability of the franchise? The fact that there is likely to be no major additions and at least one significant subtraction from last year's disappointingly middling team? The fact that the Canadian dollar is down, and that the payroll will likely go down? The fact that the Yankees are going to retool and spend like drunken sailors (again)?
We've been waiting for weeks for the Winter Meetings to get started, and now that they are here, we fear that it is entirely likely that the Jays' front office staff will walk away from Las Vegas with little more than a tour of the new AAA franchise's dilapidated home field and some outrageous hospitality expenses.
At this rate, we'd settle for a John Thomson signing.

Les Walrond is the new John Thomsen....although Thomsen at least made it to camp.
And by Thomsen, I meant Thomson of course.
Of course.
Wouldn't it be awesome if, for all the money the Yankees are throwing around, both Teixeira and CC turned them down? It's looking very possible. They can have AJ, but they'll lose Pettitte, Mussina, and Abreu, and many of the rest of their important guys are getting old.
And heck, it's looking like even Burnett might sign elsewhere. The Yanks might very well strike out.
Get Josh Towers on the phone, stat!
Yeah, it sucks. The only thing that's keeping me sane is nobody seems to be doing anything. That and the thought that if the Rays can do it, so can we! I mean really, who would have predicted their season?
To be honest, I have descended into madness.
What does everybody thing of Bill Hall as a shortstop? The Brewers want to rid themselves of his salary and they're also looking for a closer. Beej for Hall. I'm not sure what type of offense to expect from Hall (except for plenty of K's), but at one time he was a decent SS and he's only 29.
John Thomspon? I'm beginning to worry about you, Tao...
Here's something - Frick award winner announced today (hat tip - Wilner). BBHOF website seems to indicate it's a 2 horse race between our guy TC and deceased Reds broadcaster Joe Nuxhall. Sadly, my money is on Nuxhall....16 years in the bigs, 38 as Reds announcer.....didn't broadcast for a Canadian team....yeah.
