A one-sentence post on...the bottom of the barrel
In spite of all of our professed optimism, we know things aren't really going swimmingly in the Jays' offseason when we spend an hour arguing with ourselves over the relative merits and hidden value of Matt Belisle.
I'd rather just run an internal re-tread like the Wolfeman out there. he seems to have found a home in JP's doghouse for whatever reason. I think he can be serviceable, no?
Ack, that's not a bad idea. They should get a couple of more cheap retreads like Pavano, Colon or Ponson and stretch out one of the relievers. I had heard that this was done with League and Accardo when they were rehabbing . In essence, the second spot could be a competition between the retreads and the third spot could go to Wolfe, Downs, Accardo or whomever. With Purcey and Litsch in the back, they'll be OK. They still need one great hitter,though..........

Tao, I like Snider BUT still he ain't Giambi, Bradley or Burrell yet....He looks so damn promising BUT one never knows with prospects. Look at Russ Adams on the Jays or Phil Hughes on the Yankees, one never knows does one.
We already have Purcey, Cecil, Richmond, Janssen, Clement, and both Romeros to fight over three rotation slots, and one of them is going to get sent down when McGowan comes back. Do we really need to try to turn some our excellent relievers into mediocre starters too?
Torgen, MacGowan and Marcum started as relievers and became great starters...when they were not on the DL!
Tao, sorry Snider has a great swing and looks like the real deal BUT trust me I live in NYC and heard all this BS from the Yanks about Hughes and now Hughes is not even gonna be their 5th spot. JP hyped Adams and everybody is hyping Snider, I'm gonna wait and see.
MacGowan and Marcum didn't start as relievers, they were starters in the minors who got relief jobs because there wasn't a rotation spot for them at the time.
I need a drink.
ReplyDeleteI need two. One for me one for JP.....let me slip something in there for JP,too:) Then can someone get the Iraqi shoethrower to get JP good?

ReplyDeleteRuss Adams does not belong in the same sentence as Travis Snider.
ReplyDeleteEver.
When Russ Adams was 20, he was still at North Carolina, shagging sorority tarts, three full years away from his first taste at the majors.
