We don't necessarily believe in the whole fetishism around "meaningful games" - because games pretty much have the meaning that you bestow upon them, so the degree of meaning is more a reflection on you than on the team - but we have to confess that we were so geeked about last night's game that we were rooting for José Molina to knock Eva Longoria into next week when he had the chance.
Pardon my French, but: Fuck the Rays.
ReplyDeleteAs I saw that play develop (Go A-Gone! I mean REALLY!?)I was so hoping Molina would just drop his shoulder Scott Styevens style right into the jaw of Longoria and prevent him from even getting any where NEAR the plate...
ReplyDeleteBut when I ralized he was out by a mile and the threat, like the game was over, I was okay with his leniency..
I keep forgetting Molina has only been on this team for two months... I've had this weird feeling all year like he's been here for years. Not sure why, but he sure has been fun to watch.
ReplyDeleteI have the opposite experience...I keep forgetting that he's on the team. People say "Molina did this or that" and I'm like "Who? Wha?"
ReplyDeleteI blame it on the fact that I miss Bengie.
You thought he was here last year because of that very Chavez-like throw down to first.
ReplyDeleteI like Longoria, but damn that was a fun play to watch. Take that, high quality third baseman with yer stinkin' triple!
ReplyDeleteTonight felt like a meaningful game until Kevin Gregg couldn't find the plate and the manager didn't seem to notice. Very frustrating result.
ReplyDeleteNo chance you pinch hit for Lind against Choate? It felt like a lamb to the slaughter. But Cito sticks with his boys so they don't get too down. Meanwhile Maddon mixes and matches and trots out with the victory. Guy gave up the DH and won the game. Gaston is still wondering what happened. I think tonight's game demonstrated the difference in the quality of the managers.
Enough venting, if Marcum doesn't come up big tomorrow tonight is gonna suck double.
