A two-sentence post on....the end of the season
Congratulations to the New York Yankee$, Major League Baseball's 2009 Champions.
But was it just me, or was that one of the coldest, most unemotional post-game celebrations - both on the field and in the stands - in the history of the World Series?
Well, now that they have won the World Series, the Yankees will relax for another nine years, and not blow out their budget to bring in Jason Bay and Matt Holliday.
Right? Hello?
(Sorry...I've forgotten how to be clever over the past week.)
Not just you Ack, I thought it was damn quiet at Yankee Stadium. Even during the celebration, it was cold cold cold. No emotion whatsoever, other than on the field.
Yeah, I'm with you guys. The players seemed like they were bored, many having been through it before. You know there's something seriously wrong with MLB when the mystique of winning the World Series is lost. I hope Selig realizes that he runs the risk of alienating a lot of baseball fans who witnessed that "celebration" last night unless he does something substantial to level the playing field in a meaningful way. Either that or we have to wait for a different commissioner.
Stadium seemed pretty loud to me... sorry. Even though it was definitely 75% full of people that became yankees fans in the last 10 years
ReplyDeleteFucking A.J. Burnett
ReplyDeleteI went to bed early as to avoid seeing the celebration entirely.
ReplyDeleteMissed the whole ninth!
Going to bed during the last game of the WS and waking up with the season over makes all of the 2009 clusterfuck seem like a bad dream.
It definitely had a weird vibe to it. The Matsui interview was TV gold, though.
ReplyDeleteNot to worry Jays fans, the team is now focused on only the best talent available:
ReplyDeleteAccording to Jordan Bastain of MLB.com, the Blue Jays will watch John Halama pitch in the Dominican Republic on Thursday.
To all the Yankees fans: Congratu$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
ReplyDeleteAnd Halama? Seriously? Fuck off, Alex Anthopoulos.
I don't know, it was just weird to me. Big rush & excitement of the final out.....then not much.
ReplyDeleteOf course, I'm jaded as fuck, so there you go.
HALAMA!!!!!
PLAYOFF$$$$S
ReplyDeleteYeah, that celebration was about as genuine as something Kobe Bryant would do.

ReplyDeleteRight? Hello?

The sad part (for Jays fans anyways) is they could bring in both those guys and not be blowing the budget.
ReplyDeleteThey will need a couple of pitchers though. Unless Wang finds his old form.
Like REAN, I woke up to find the baseball season had ended. Sucks! I could have stayed up for it all tonight.
ReplyDeletePerhaps the Yankees will take a flier on JOHN FUCKING HALAMA.

ReplyDeleteI love how they all ran to embrace ARod after he won his first ring. Uh wait... was it just me or did Jeter look every direction but to his right?
ReplyDeleteThe overwhelming feeling I got from Arod was relief.
