I had some Tom Petty all queued up for this week's rock out, but wasn't feeling it given my mood of late. What a week it's been for Blue Jay fans. And not in a good way.
Your weekend contributor will be by to....oh, wait. Still me. Worry not friends - only a few more days of my nonsense, then it's back to well-written baseball discourse with the Tao.
Enjoy the weekend. Give it your best shot, anyway.
Where can I find attendance figures for Halladay's starts at the Rogers Centre?
ReplyDeleteSomething I have to get off my chest here. Ack, your as good a target as any.
ReplyDeleteJoe Inglett was named PCL player of the week on Monday. .640, 7 RBI in 7 games. The guy hit .297 last year in 109 games with the Jays. He can play the outfield (maybe better than Lind), and yet we have this goof Delucci on the roster, who has never had a season hitting .297, and only came close once.
Sure Inglett's got no power, but he can make things happen and contribute. I guess I'm a little raw still over the Mencherson issue last year, but they should use people that could have some future. Play them a little and maybe trade them at some point for a useful part down the road. Delucci is just taking up space and nothing else.
To boil it down. Inglett for DH/LF right now and dump D minus. When Snider comes back ditch Millar.
ReplyDeleteConsidering the Jays' situation, I would have thought that Tom Petty's 'Free Falling' would have been an apt choice.
ReplyDeleteInglett was useless.

ReplyDeleteLook at us we lose a few games in a row to two of the better teams in the AL and we are going at the team like a bunch of crazy plastic surgeons. Come on we all knew the team was going to have it's ups and downs this season. Then they teased us like a cheap Korean hooker with that amazing start. I would love to see some changes like the rest of you but things need to run their course. Guys need to get at-bats to get their true worth. Snider should be back after the All-Star break and we will hopefully never have to utter the words Dave Delucci again. Lets embrace the good points of the season so far. Let's enjoy Hill, Lind, Rolen, Romero, Doc, Tallet for the greatness they have been so far. If we get swept by the O's this weekend then we can go ape shit on these guys.
As well as anyone noticed that Wells average has climbed by at least 12 - 14 points since the start of the month. Could this be a sign of things to come? I am just saying
Just trying to spread some optimism.
Always with the timely quip, MRB. The Yankees just caught your Sox and there's plenty of time for Tampa to squeeze them out of the post-season altogether.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it sucks to be reduced to living vicariously by other teams.
Nice call on the Rage, Ack. Fun to play this song on Guitar Hero.
VW is 7 for 17 batting 6th, but hit only RBI came on a solo homer. Of course Overbay hasn't been very good during that stretch, which is going to limit his chances, but they've been there.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Voodoo Matt. Inglett is a good deal more valuable than he's been given credit for. Give the guy some time to post some meaningful numbers with the Jays! His recent tear is justification enough to bring him back.
ReplyDeleteWow. I spend a week in the woods, and when I escape to an internet cafe, I find that Beej is gone, the Jays are under .500, and they're shopping Halladay.
ReplyDeleteWhat the fucking fuck!?
This is the last time I take a vacation during the season.
(BTW...great work this week Ack.)
Now, back to the woods, so that the roof can literally fall in at the Rogers Centre.
Brunt seems to sum up the Halliday issue quite well in today's Globe.
ReplyDeleteIs Janssen expected back anytime soon? And is there any word on Scotty Rich?
ReplyDeleteI caught the end of the M's/Rangers game and then the end of the Marlins/DBacks game last night. Great comebacks by both the M's & Marlins. For some reason, seeing other teams doing something good made me forget the slide the Jays have been on.
Don't mean to be sentimental but...
ReplyDeleteSomewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly.
I blame David Delucci for everything. Even the 9 game streak in May. I know it's irrational.
ReplyDeleteNo, it makes perfect sense. Completely rationale.
ReplyDeleteI was away all day, and yet, I could not escape The Halladay Depression. It follows me. It taunts me.
And by rationale, I of course mean rational.
ReplyDeleteI blame the depression. And Dellucci.
