You know, we've spent so much time over the past decade picking apart the inadequacies in Joe Carter's game and giving him guff over his abysmal colour-commentating gig at Sportsnet that we sometimes overlook the fact that the man drove in 100 runs six times as a Blue Jay...and that ain't nothing.
Amen.
ReplyDeleteThat's a good looking uniform on Joe right there as well.
Joe's alright, in my books. That walk-off home run to win the World Series really helped.
ReplyDeleteJoe Carter was what the Jays needed at the time, a solid RBI producer. It wouldn't kill them to have a Joe Carter currently on their roster.
ReplyDeleteI remember Carter remarked as he was traded to the Jays how he had been moved around the league so often despite his run of consecutive 100 RBI seasons.
that jersey is the best. they need to bring that back - ohhh yeah we are the black jays, save fridays at home.
ReplyDeleteDidn't MLB shut down the Jays' last attempt at distinctive uniforms--namely, the dark grey road unis?
ReplyDeleteI guess if Jim Rice is as marginal as they come to get into the HoF, then you'd have to give ol' Joe an awful lot of votes for that Game Six homer to get him over the hump ... but, damn, put Joe in a Sawx uni and you gotta at least wonder.
ReplyDeleteJC really isn't THAT bad. Though I'm afraid that if he didn't hit that HR in Game 6, most folks probably wouldn't remember who he is. Joe was always my favourite player, even before he touched 'em all.
ReplyDeleteI love Joe Carter and wish the Cubs never traded him to the Indians.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of Joe and the HOF, my vote would be no. A great run producer and a huge HR to win a WS - but never a dominant player over his career. Some really good seasons, but a career OPS of .770.
seriously, anyone know where a guy can get one of those beauty jerseys? I checked ebay and a quick google, to no avail.
ReplyDeleteTrue, true. But he just couldn't lay off those 3-2, low and away sliders, could he?
ReplyDeleteWUS UP JOE THIS IS JOHN FROM E-Z GO !
