A one-sentence post on...the glut of LF/DH types in the free agent market

Maybe we weren't reading every sentence and listening to every podcasted and broadcasted word on the Winter Meetings, but we can't remember anyone mentioning Adam Dunn, with his 40 homers and 100 RsBI, as a serious free agent target for any team over the past week.

  1. What do you know about Adam Dunn? . . . Did you know the guy doesn't really like baseball that much? Do you know the guy doesn't have a passion to play the game that much? How much do you know about the player? . . . I don't think you'd be very happy if we brought Adam Dunn in here. I think you'd be one of the guys calling me up on Wednesday night complaining about all of the deficiencies that the guy has.

  2. was that his actual quote? that's cool....the first half is a little odd, but the second half of it probably hit the nail square on the head. fickle fucking am radio call-in types.

  3. JP may have actually cost Dunn millions of dollars if even a few GM's perhaps question his intangibles. Maybe Dunn should have been a little less prickly about it?

  4. From what I've read, Dunn will become an option for teams once Tex signs. Most people put him on the Nats with his old GM if they doing get Texiera.

  6. Just for the record, we've had a bit of a mancrush on Adam Dunn for years, regardless of what J.P. said about him.

We'd be thrilled if the Jays signed him, even if that possibility exists only in some DC Comics Multiverse Earth-Three scenario.

  8. JP was an idiot to say that. He (Dunn)would put the Jays in contention right now.

Just think of him hitting between Rios and Wells. Protection???????

  9. Tao Earth 3?!! UNH? Try Earth 52 ! JP told the truth BUT the Jays need him more than he needs the Jays. I'm surprised that Adam Dumb hasn't taken out a hit on JP yet. JP's musings made public what a clutchless gutless player he is. Bad luck to the both of 'em, I say!

  10. It was all a carefully planned conspiracy by JP (and Wilner) to drive down Dunn's value. He's gonna swoop in soon... Check and mate.

  11. I have a feeling if the Jays' GM signs Dunn, it will be Tony LaCava.
