Carlos Delgado is not highstepping through that door

And for his next trick, MLB.com's Noah Coslov will tell all the children that they are getting a wicked BMX bike, and then after they get all excited and build ramps and jumps and mud moguls in the driveway, he'll tell them that he made a mistake, and that he had heard it from Santa Claus. Except that Santa doesn't exist. Sorry kids!

In a way, we're kinda relieved to come to the realization that King Carlos is not coming back to Toronto. (Unless he is. Nevermind. Sorry.) As much as our sentimental side would love to see Delgado pull on an ugly black Jays cap once again, his addition would only serve to further complicate the 1B/LF/DH conundrum of figuring out where we find room in the field and the lineup for Lind/Overbay/Ruiz/Snider/Wallace/Dopirak/Bautista/etc...

Beyond that, we'd just finally worn down Drew from Ghostrunner on First so that he'd climb aboard the Randy Ruiz love train, a train that was goin' off the tracks, over the rail, off the bridge and into the water if Delgado were to make his triumphant return to Canada.

Ruiz or Delgado? Delgado or Ruiz? We would have been torn between two sluggers, feelin' like a fool.

Nice work, love your style.

Ruiz platoons at first with Overbay, Delgado DH, Lind prances around in left. Why is this a thing?

Peter is my kind of guy.

That Delgado rumour was just mean. I heard from a friend around 530 that Delgado on his way home. Done deal. Elation. A few hours later, I was drowning my sorrows into a Stiegl.

Well, Stiegl is a good sorrow drowning beer.

I don't want to seem like Mr. Smartypants-After-The-Fact, but there was something about that whole thing yesterday that smelled funny from the get-go. I didn't get too invested in it, because I just couldn't believe it.

Is it just me, or does anyone else find it weird seeing Delgado in one of those new-school Jays jerseys?

I know his last year in Toronto was '04 and that's the same year they banished the T-Bird to Jersey Damnation.

It's not a point worth arguing, but I'd just as soon not see Dopirak's name in any discussions involving the big club (and this year we'll use the term "big club" loosely.) I'm all for giving Ruiz a shot, but I'm not at all concerned about blocking Dopirak.

It's totally weird to see him in that now defunct road jersey.

And also: I don't want to pull rank on anyone here, but there will be NO SLAGGING OF THE T-BIRD IN MY COMMENTS SECTION!

The T-Bird brought the Jays a Cy Young and two Silver Sluggers.

The T-Bird rules. RULES!

Tao, I think you are the only person I've ever talked to who is fond of the T-Bird.

I guess we are all guilty of having questionable jerseys that we are fond of (I actually like the Astros rainbow jersey).

Diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks!

What's not to love about Ruiz. He's a poorman's frank thomas.

The T-Bird was the baseball equivalent of Steve Guttenberg. Good looking and poignant. Not appreciated in it's time. Gone too soon, leaving all secretly wanting more. And when it was gone, we all yearned for days of yore. Then we all looked up the word 'yore' in the dictionary.

I am with you Tao - The T-Bird ruled. I STILL have that jersey and I wear it all the time. I loved it.

The T-Bird should have come out earlier. Maybe then he could have made a cameo in Space Jam.

In a totally pointless aside, I saw 5 blue jays under a tree yesterday when I was walking my dog. There was no snow under the tree, so they were pecking around for whatever.

So pretty. (Yeah, I am a little soft-headed. So what?)

Delgado wore that old "maple leaf explosion" logo better than anyone.

I couldn't help but notice that the National Post chose to use the EXACT SAME PHOTO as above in their article today.

That limberness is what attracted Shawn Green to him in the first place.

I don't know if any of you play World of Warcraft, but I stumbled upon this guy in my travels. Can it be a coincidence?

Very happy to see all this Ruiz love over the last few days. Why does the manager hate him so?

That Adam Lind character in the link above looks like he's about to do something badass.

OK I followed up, the blue text in this screen cap is from a Blizzard employee. Maybe they are coy due to Todd McFarlane's Tony Twist situation, but I think it's fair to say there might be a Link or Jays fan on the WoW development team: http://tinypic.com/r/2nqege1/6

The fact that AA went on with Hogan the next morning to get the denial out in the media again tells me that they are interested but don't want the price to go up. I got the impression that the "rumour" pissed him off because they were monitoring the situation.

Perhaps even it's a nod and a wink right now with Delgado, but they have to move Overbay first.

Sorry to get your hopes back up eyebleaf.
